Looking back to the summer of love

It’s now been two weeks since the madness that took place at Queen of Hoxton and Brixton Jamm, and we thought, with the weekend approaching once again, that now is as good a time to reflect on all that went down.

Friday night saw the Pangaea boys take to the decks once again with old favourites Late Night Disco to support them with their takeover of Queen of Hoxton’s basement. LND did a great job of decking out the area and making it their own, with a strong retro vibe emanating from the eighties workout videos looped above the dance floor, which set the tone for the evening.

As expected, the dance floor was buzzing from the early stages of the night, and by the end its funky revellers were packed together with just enough room to pull their sweaty disco moves. The night culminated in a giant B2B (which is becoming a regular event with our LND collabs) and the explosion of quite a lot of confetti. It was a real pleasure to support Late Night Disco with such a successful Hoxton debut, and judging by the results, we’ve no doubt we’ll be back there playing with them soon.

As the old saying goes, there’s no rest for the wicked, and the next day we were straight into the birthday celebrations of Pangaea co-founder Takao, which led swiftly into our latest collaboration with Brixton Jamm for their ‘summer of love’ night – which waved goodbye to the summer months in the funkiest way possible.

The evening saw us reunite with Spanish disco maniac Rayko, who became a fan favourite at the second Pangaea Disco. Fueled by a hefty helping of tequila, Rayko summoned his signature blissful house and disco blend to great effect. Later on edit master The Reflex took the stage, complete with his customary selection of classic disco bangers and succeeding, unsurprisingly, to ignite the dance floor with them. It was an awesome experience to support the two of them, and with a great turnout on the night, the spirit of the summer of love was very much present on the dance floors of Jamm that night.

Thanks to all who came down for either event on the weekend, you can catch us behind the decks again soon when we venture out to east London for a change at Tail and Twist’s next event on 14 October where we’ll be reunited with Late Night Disco for another night of tunes and antics.
